Analysis

Cebr Executive Deputy Chairman, Douglas McWilliams, has written a report on “How to Abolish Traffic Jams”. In the report he comments on ways to eliminate the polluting effects of fossil fuels in propelling vehicles. The report was quoted in City A.M. and the Evening Standard.

Douglas McWilliams was also quoted in the Guardian, Sky News, Independent, Business Insider, Reuters and Bloomberg discussing the slump in consumer confidence in wake of the hung parliament. He observed that, “It looks as though the indecisive result of the election has seriously affected economic prospects already dampened by Brexit uncertainty.”

Nina Skero, Head of Macroeconomics, commented on the consumer confidence index created by Cebr and YouGov. She observed that, “these figures suggest that while the shock of the election result may have been absorbed, a lot of uncertainty remains.” Her thoughts were covered by City A.M. and International Business Times UK.

Commenting on rising inflation, Oliver Kolodseike, Senior Economist, was quoted saying that he, “expects policy makers to look past rising inflation and keep monetary policy on hold until at least early 2018.” His comments were quoted in the Guardian, City A.M., the Independent and Evening Standard. Oliver was also quoted in the FT Advisor and Sky News, commenting on the disappointing GDP growth in the United States.

Cebr Board Member, Vicky Pryce, has been quoted discussing austerity in City A.M. She commented that, “The public sector has been able to borrow cheaply so far – but this may not continue if the economy deteriorates further. So austerity is here to stay.”

Cebr’s GDP growth forecasts have been quoted in the Independent after a downward revision.
