Coverage of bespoke research:

 

The Benefits of Apprenticeships to Business report by Cebr in conjunction with Skills Funding Agency reveals that 5 million consumers would prefer to do business with employers of apprentices. Further, one in four would pay a price-premium for services or products that champion apprentices. Coinciding with the launch of National Apprenticeships Week, the findings of the report were covered by City AM and the Daily Telegraph (x2).

 

A report released last year in conjunction with Tidal Lagoon Power Ltd revealed that a tidal lagoon electricity generation industry could contribute £27 billion to the UK economy. The findings were further covered by Bloomberg.

 

The findings of a report released in December last year by Cebr and Citrix were covered by the Guardian. The report revealed that greater flexible working could add £11.5 billion annually to the UK economy and save commuters £7.1bn.

 

The Economist covered a finding of The Cost of Care in Later Life report that the cost of care in a Nursing Home now stands at an average of £38,000 per annum, exceeding most pensioners’ income. The study was commissioned by Killik & Co and prepared by Cebr.

 

For the Future Spaces Foundation report Vital Cities not Garden Cities, Cebr set out evidence to explain the drivers of the current UK housing crisis. They identified local authorities subject to housing shortages, and evidenced the extent to which brownfield land is available to build more homes in these areas. The report also revealed that London and the Home Counties, where the housing crisis is most concentrated, would need 67 Garden Cities taking up undeveloped land (the area of Greater Manchester), over the next 25 years to address projected unmet housing demand. The findings were reported by the Daily Telegraph and City AM.

 

Cebr’s research into the economic impact of extreme cold weather revealed that periods of extreme cold weather have lowered GDP growth by 0.6 percentage points in total since 2005. The findings were covered by City AM.

 

Cebr’s research released last year to mark the 40th anniversary of the allocation of postcodes to every town in Britain, for the Post Office, identified the most desirable postcodes in the UK. The results were covered by the BBC, City AM, the Independent and ITV News.

 

The European Economic Impact Report by Sage Enterprise Market Europe and Cebr revealed that mid-sized enterprises contributed €1.03 trillion to the European economy in 2014 and was covered by Les Echos.

 

City AM covered the findings of the O2 Productivity Index put together by Cebr and released in 2013. The research revealed the extent to which technology drives the UK office economy.

 

A report by Saga and Cebr calculated that the over 50s spent £42.4bn on motor transportation in 2014, amounting to 47% of total motor spending in the UK. The findings were covered by The Times, and Nina Skero, the economist who compiled the report was interviewed by Radio Yorkshire and other regional stations.

Britain’s first “UK Local Innovation Index” by Cebr and Johnston Press launched last year reveals the extraordinary dynamism and creativity of the nation’s businesses in all local areas. The report was mentioned in reference to the launch of Johnston Press’s new online platform The Hub, by the Guardian.

 

The High Growth Small Businesses Report from Octopus Investments and Cebr revealed that 68% of employment growth and 36% of economic growth was created by just 1% of the UK’s businesses from 2013-2014. The findings were mentioned by Octopus’ George Whitehead for City AM.

 

Cebr’s research into the UK’s mid-sized businesses for FSB and BDO revealed that overall costs fell in February for the first time in six years. This was covered by the BBC and the Daily Telegraph.

Vicky Pryce, Cebr’s Chief Economic Adviser authored an articles ahead of the budget announcement in both the Evening Standard and City AM in response to the Chancellor’s plans. Economist Danae Kyriakopoulou was interviewed by CCTV America (Chinese State TV) ahead of Osborne’s Budget speech in the House of Commons.

 

On March 18th George Osborne presented his last Budget before the general election. Cebr’s analysis of his proposals for government spending were covered by the Guardian, the Scotsman and City AM (x2).

 

Vicky wrote an opinion pieces for City AM on liquidity issues in Greece and Prospect Magazine on Greece’s relationship with fellow members of the Eurozone. Vicky also spoke to City AM and the Independent about Greece’s potential economic future.

 

Senior Economist Colm Sheehy commented to the Daily Telegraph about the economic impact of the solar eclipse.

 

Economist Nina Skero’s comments about Britain’s trade deficit, suggesting that lower import costs were a help to manufacturers, but that this alone would not be enough to narrow the trade deficit significantly over the coming months, were reported by the Guardian.

 

Nina also spoke to Ian King at Sky News about the recent announcement of 0% inflation in the UK. Her comments on the same subject appeared in Letters to the editor in the Evening Standard.

Economist Alasdair Cavalla’s comments on the Fed’s decision to raise interest rates were covered by City AM, the Gulf Times, the Khaleej Times and the Taipei Times.

 

Economist Danae Kyriakopoulou’s comments regarding the long-term risks of Grexit to the institutional character of the common currency area were covered by Sábado. Danae answered ‘yes’ to both the questions “As the euro hits a 12-year low against the dollar, is a weak currency positive for the Eurozone?” and “Is the ECB speaking too soon in saying that QE is already helping the Eurozone economy?” in City AM (x2). Danae was quoted in the Irish Independent on Eurozone growth drivers.

 

Danae Kyriakopoulou contributed an opinion piece on the potential risks the ECB is taking with QE for MNI Euro Insight.
